DR. MICHAEL A. WINDS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT ASSOCIATION
The Dr. Michael A. Winds Academic Scholarship is a Tax Exempt, Non-Profit Association under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
This scholarship was created to honor the memory of Dr. Michael A. Winds by raising funds to provide graduating seniors with scholarships as they continue their education as a full time student at a two or four year college/university.
The Dr. Michael A. Winds Academic Achievement Association is a new nonprofit organization, established in 2018. We named the scholarship after Dr. Winds because he was a positive educator and a strong advocate for education. We decided to award the first scholarships to students who attend the high school where Dr. Winds was a former principal. However, as we grow and receive more financial support, we plan to invite students from neighboring schools to apply for the scholarship.
It is our mission to empower diverse and minority populations by providing college bound students with scholarships to help them to achieve their academic goals. We would like to see deserving students graduate from college with little or no student loan debt.
Three goals we would like to achieve in the next three years are:
To increase the number of scholarships we give to students, increase the amount of the scholarships we give and to add technological devices such as, a laptop computer, to our College Care Baskets.
ACTIVITIES
Fund Raising Events
The Dr. Michael A. Winds Academic Achievement Association is in the business of raising funds to give to graduating seniors who want to go to college but have concerns about how to pay for college. The work we do at our Non-Profit Organization is aimed at providing scholarships to help solve concerns regarding paying for college.
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new events and strategies for dealing with this challenge. Fund Raising is something that we take very seriously, and our team is working each and every day to make a positive impact. Contact us to learn more about our commitment to this cause.
At Dr. Michael A. Winds Academic Achievement Association, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Fund Raising is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.

(Main Office, Guidance Office, online)

Eligibility Requirements:

You must be a graduating senior from Abraham Lincoln High School in Jersey City, N. J.

You must be enrolling in a (2) or (4) year college, on a full time basis.

You must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).
What you should submit with your application:

You need a completed application.

You need (3) letters of recommendations (1 – School Counselor, 1 – English or Math Teacher, 1 – Your Choice, letters are attached).

You need a copy of your report card from grades 10, 11 and 12.

You need a letter of acceptance from a (2) year or (4) year college/university.

You must complete a one page

essay on: “How will this scholarship help you attain your educational goals?”
